PC or Laptop? |

When purchasing a new computer, you now have many options available to you from wherever you choose to buy from, but how do you make the decision between buying a laptop or a desktop? One of the main arguments for buying a laptop over a PC is portability. With a laptop and a roaming wireless internet connection, you can use email and browse the web on the go, which isn’t easily done with a PC of course. If you don’t have an internet connection you can use with your laptop on the go, most laptops now come with wireless capabilities and can be used in certain shopping centres, internet cafes, coffee shops and public libraries that host a wireless hotspots that you can either pay to use, or use for free to do your online banking, contacting friends and families and keeping up with the news in your area. It means less tangled cords than a PC as the laptop is basically everything in one, the monitor, cpu, speakers, mouse and keyboard and it takes up less space on a desk. The main drawback with buying a laptop over a PC is the difference in getting repair work done or having components replaced or upgraded. This usually requires a laptop technician to do the work and can be more difficult than having similar work done to a PC. You can now purchase laptop docks that you attach your speakers, printer/scanner/copier and other peripherals to and your laptop will clip or lock ino to enable you to access these devices without having to plug and unplug things depending on what you want to use it for. It makes using a laptop feel like using a PC, but you are still obviously, stationary.
People still buy PC’s for the fact that they can be cheaper than a laptop but have more features and more grunt for their price. You are able to upgrade a PC a lot easier and it also makes any kind of repair work simpler to do as the components in the hard drive case are easily accessible. Using a desktop also means not having to worry about losing battery power and not being near a power point, which can happen using a laptop. PC’s are still the most popular choice for people who are looking for high intensity graphics and gaming and for those who are super demanding computer users. I prefer a PC to a laptop, mainly because a laptop keyboard and mouse tend to be hard to get used to when you are used to using a normal sized keyboard and mouse, so you have to get used to the slightly different layout of your keys and the functionality of the mouse. A drawback to a PC are the obvious annoyance of having so many cables and different pieces of equipment and how difficult moving a computer can be compared to closing your laptop and transporting it without any of the extra setup that is required.
All in all, both options have their pro’s and con’s but when choosing between buying a laptop and a PC, make sure to take your circumstances and your wants and needs into consideration to ensure you’re happy with your decision!
